Andrew John Tomasic, Sr. (December 10, 1917[1] – November 27, 2008) was a Major League Baseball and NFL player. He was born in Hokendauqua, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Allentown, Pennsylvania. He attended Temple University and was inducted into their Hall of Fame.[1]
Tomasic was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 16th round of the 1942 NFL Draft. He was a halfback, defensive back, and return specialist and made his NFL debut in 1942. He did not play from 1943-1945 as he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.[1] Tomasic returned in 1946 in what would be his final NFL season.
After his NFL career ended, he played a single season in Major League Baseball with the New York Giants in 1949. In 5 innings pitched, he gave up 10 earned runs and struck out 2.
